Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale our real-time notification infrastructure. You’ll work on challenging distributed systems problems, designing APIs that handle millions of concurrent connections, and building the core systems that power StreamSyncEngage.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement highly scalable backend services for real-time notification delivery
• Build and maintain WebSocket and SSE infrastructure handling millions of concurrent connections
• Work with distributed systems technologies (Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL)
• Optimize system performance and reliability at scale
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to design great APIs
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical architecture decisions

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Go, Rust, or similar systems programming languages
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and networking
• Experience with WebSocket, SSE, or similar real-time protocols
• Strong knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, Redis) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Experience building real-time messaging systems
• Open source contributions
• Experience with event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of AI/ML systems
• Previous startup experience
